No, I'm not kidding. I don't know whether to cry over the forthoming loss of pretty, shirtles Gambit, or scream in glee.
I haven't been completely seduced to the dark side of the Force yet, so...
Sadly it looks like Marvel is trying to make Pulse/Gus into another love interest for Rogue (as her on-again-off-again with Remy is temporarily off due to his temporarily being traumatised/brainwashed/exploring new avenues of self-destructiveness/being Sunfire's bitch). Damn. I'd hoped that, just this once, she'd manage to avoid becoming a ho while Gambit was gone, but it seems that it is not to be.
Remy is being terribly stupid, but it's in-character stupidity, and much as when Sawyer acts like a jerk, I want to bop him on the nose with a rolled up newspaper and give him a hug. God, Remy, you really are insecure and a magnet for abusive relationships, as well as even better at sabotaging yourself than Sawyer (though I'm becoming reconcilled to the new Drizzt Do-Urden look that's replaced the cartoon-Sawyer-with-red-eyes look). Hopefully, you'll soon get tired of being Apocalypse/Sunfire/Sinister's bitch and go back to your lifetime calling of being Rogue's bitch.
Mystique is still being gloriously pushy, and Lorna is still Lorna and not dead/brainwiped/still-a-horseman. Which puts her one-up on fukced-up!Remy and batshitinsane!Sunfire.
In other titles, Iron Man/Tony Stark has gone evil and is using Peter Parker as his woobie, innocent tool, ruining Peter's life in the process (coming out was dumb, sweetie. Don't listen to Tony from now on, m'kay?). There doesn't seem to be as much bleed-over between that Avengers/Fantastic Four/Spiderman story-line and the X-Men one as there should be.
So, yeah: Milligan and Larocca are both leaving the X-Men title for new projects, and a new creative team is coming onboard (always a cause for fear, since my OTP is currently in the kind of mess that could play really well with good writing and horribly with bad).
But, Larocca is going to be working on a new title with Warren Ellis, so I hold out hope for pretty, shirtless canon slash. Based on previous track records, I'll either adore their project to bits (Authority) or be completely indifferent (Transmetropolitan).
