Today is a day of rejoicing, not just because the latest incarnation of the anti-marriage bill has been defeated, and the Air Force took out Al-Zarqawi, but because my Mom is finally done with teaching for the year, and possibly forever (she's taking a leave of absence for the upcoming school year).
No longer will she have to suffer at the hands of demonic middle-schoolers, parents who blame everything on the teachers and refuse to discipline their kids, and an administration that refuses to take responsibility for anything. No longer will my Dad and I have to suffer vicariously by hearing all about it every night.
I think we might be even more relieved than she is. Though a masochistic part of me will miss hearing the latest instalment of the Saga of Desmond the Demon 8th-Grader and his bitchy mother every week (her latest achievement - threatening to call the everybody from the NAACP to The Washington Post and sue the school administration for discrimination when Desmond was banned from the 8th-grade dance for physically assualting a teacher).
Today's Navy Test Pilot School graduation, too, but TPS students don't begin to cause the headaches middle schoolers do (well, except for that guy last year who got kicked out of Air Force TPS a week before graduation for getting in a bar brawl... Yeah. His military career is now over). They do seem to be mysteriously incapable of proof-reading test plan reviews (you know it's bad when my Dad is complaining about sentence fragmants and typos), but that's probably an engineer thing.

(And, um, if not...then I guess just ignore this and please forgive the way-too-happy-ramblings above.)
But, if so - YAY and you are automatically very, very, cool.

Both seasons are now out on DVD and available at amazon, if you're interested, and there are a couple of LD:TOY yahoo groups. There's also an under-construction website for a virtual third season here (http://geocities.com/elspethdixon20686/outlaw.html), and fic and fanart to be found at The Ambrosia Club (http://home.earthlink.net/~ambrosiaclub/index.html), and in this post of mine (http://elspethdixon.livejournal.com/78229.html).
Also, massive icon love.

I do love the Mose as well, and also Call (although he needs a bath!) I got into Dove when I was about twelve courtesy of my mother - also obsessed. I'm just thrilled there are others here!
And the icon - Call, angry, eggs...what's not to love? If I ever have time, I'd like to make a Mosby one that says "dandified SOB" on it.
I'm off to check that fic now!
