So, last night I finally broke down and watched the season finale of Lost a show I'd previously refused to watch because it sounded vaguely remeniscent of Survivor (which is everyone knows is the antichrist), and clearly had way too much mainstream popularity for the characters to be truly fun. If that many normal people liked it, I figured, it had to be shallow and boring.

But I watched the little "previously on" catch-up episode and the endless-finale-of-doom anyway. Damn, but I didn't know how much wet, shirtless hotness I was missing.

Dude, why did nobody tell me it had a crazy island OT3? An OT3 containing a hot, morally bankrupt Southern guy? Who nearly dies and is healed by the rest of the OT3's lust possessiveness love? (And why is the internet not drowning in hotangstywrong Jack/Kate/Sawyer pr0n? Come on, they snark at each other, threaten people together, and formulate battle plans via eye-fucking. It's true love, people.)

Also, Sayid is the coolest thing ever. I wish to marry Sayid. My entire family would disown me, but it would be worth it.

This has just been a week of OT3 glee, first with the PotC II trailer coming out, and then the discovery of my new crazy island OT3. I now await post-season ficcage where they kill things, argue, have threesome sex, and argue more. (In fact, I vote that season three consist solely of Jack, Kate, and Sawyer arguing and fighting things and sexing each other up, with a supporting cast of Sayid and the Korean couple being agressively cool. Forget the rest of the island).

Oh, thank God I'm not the only one. I was all fine and happy avoiding the show, until last night, when my sister made me watch it. And there was an amoral Southern guy. And an OT3.

I haven't actually had a chance to read any of it, but the sister has recommended [livejournal.com profile] alliecat8's fanfic for OT3. I can't comment on the quality of the fic yet, but damn do I love my sister.

Yes! OT3!!!! Clearly, the fact that they've all been captured by the mysterious evil people can only lead to hot threesome sex and h/c. And they just might escape over a pile of mysterious evil bodies, because I think the bad guys may have bitten off more crazy than they can chew.

Sadly, a brief perusal of fandom (or the snapshot of fandom provided by [livejournal.com profile] crack_van's recs) seems to indicate that we're in the same position I'm in re: Star Wars or Buffy. I'm all about the OT3, but the fanwriters are only doing slash or canon het (Jack/Sawyer or Jack/Kate, the way that Star Wars is all Luke/Han and Han/Leia and BtVS is all Spike/Buffy or Angel/Buffy or Angel/Spike but never includes all three). There also seems to be a fair amount of dislike of Kate in some quarters, which saddens me, since I think she's cool.

I'm always baffled when fandoms do this. It seems like such a waste. I mean, the het and the slash are both fun, but they could be even better, and yet sad numbers of people fail to recognize that.

And Kate does seem fun. It's so rare to see women with sketchy morality.

Lost OT3ness would be cool. As soon as the current season finishes over here, I plan to immerse myself in fic, because I failed last time and the second season had started in the US when I started looking for first season fic and got worried about tripping over spoilers.

You need to write the OT3 -- I'd love to see your take on them.

After years of watching shows seasons after they originally aired (Buffy reruns on SkyOne, Firefly on DVD, MASH reruns, Stargate SG:1 on DVD, Stargate Atlantis on DVD while everyone else was watching season two, etc), I'm pretty much inured to spoilers. I've gotten to like tuning into a show a season late via DVD--for one thing, I'm warned of any killing-off of characters or painful plot twists/bad writing in advance, which makes them less painful. It makes it harder for the canon writers to burn me the way previous fandoms *coughJKRowlingcough* have.

I've got tons of other wips and backburnered fics to finish first, plus a lot of canon to catch up on, but I am definately tempted by the OT3. They've got that nice "we three need/deserve each other becuse we're so messed up that no one else will have us" vibe going on, plus all sorts of nice resentment and rivalry and trust issues.

Also, given [spoiler-y spoiler thing that happens in the season finale] I anticipate lots of bondage pr0n forthcoming from fandom-at-large this summer, with a healty side dose of "The Others Made Them Have Sex!"
