This past weekend all of us went back to Virginia to have a celebration dinner with my Dad's family. Not only did Sarah graduate high school this year, our cousins Robert and Diane did as well, and Anna, our oldest cousin, graduated from Virginia Tech. It was fun. I hadn't seen Anna in several years, and I remember her as being a lot older than me, but now she pretty much seems the same age.

On Saturday, we had a picknick at Charlie's house with my Mom's family to say good bye to Sarah, who will be going to basic (Air Force Academy boot camp) in a week. Charlie, for those who don't know (i.e. everyone) would be my step-grandfather, if my Nana got married again. I don't think she's going to, though, because that would bring her up to three husbands. Anyway, that was also a lot of fun. I got to discuss X-Men with Steven Haley, the son of a friend of my parents, and then got to discuss Harry Potter endlessly with my cousin Cary. Unfortunately, he's twelve, so I really had to censor myself (no bringing up Wolfstar, which is harder than it sounds). I did direct him to FictionAlley for fanfics, though--better quality than ff.net, and nothing NC-17.

This Monday, my parents, Sarah, and I all went to DC for a reception with Steny Hoyer, the Congressional Representative for our district. All of the other kids from Southern Maryland who had been accepted to service academies were there as well, including a girl named Megan who's going to the Air force Academy, so Sarah's already met one future classmate. *grins* I like Steny--he may be the one Democrat who's permenantly got my vote. He's always supported the military base down here, supported the war in Iraq, and gave Sarah a nomination to the Air Force Academy (he would have given her one to Annapolis, but he didn't have any Naval Academy spots this year).
