Okay, Rosa-banana and I are now up to Retribution in our Hornblower-watching spree. We've decided that coughing up blood and collapsing in your boyfriend's arms has become a theme in our movie viewing recently, and we need to watch happy slash, like The Road to El Dorado, to make up for it.

Yet more things I've determined about Hornblower:

(previous list here)

The Indefatigable is quite possibly the coolest naval vessel ever. Pellew, Bracegirdle, Horatio, Archie, Matthews, Styles, Oldroyd... Every officer and rating on that ship rocks.
Bracegirdle is a hobbit's name. He looks a bit like a hobbit, too. (Well, a very tall one).
Horatio and Archie so obviously have slept together by the time Mutiny starts. They've slept together a lot.
Without Matthews to make him shut up and behave, Styles would have been flogged or hung years ago.
Style's little ponytale is the girliest hairstyle I've ever seen on a guy.
Lt. Bush looks really good in those big, untucked white shirts he keeps wearing.
The little midshipman in Mutiny and Retribution desperately needed either a Horatio-equivalent to take care of him or an Archie-equivalent to make him lighten up--I'm not sure which.
Horatio has truly become a leader now. You can tell this because he's inherited Captain Pellew's ability to show up at exactly the right moment in order to save the day.
The post-Mutiny command structure of the Renown goes something like this:
Horatio: Captain. Bush: First Lieutenent. Archie: Second Lt. First Lt. Buckland: Useless figurehead.
A ship commanded by Horatio, Bush, and Archie would be the second coolest naval vessel ever (after the Indie).
Hobbs is a really cool villain, and weirdly likeable.
Archie and Horatio's love is pure and true, and most definately canon.
