Rosa-banana (it’s an HU anime club thing) and I are watching Horatio Hornblower. Currently, we’ve finished the first three parts, through “The Duchess and the Devil.”

Things I’ve determined so far:

Matthews is always right. Always.
Styles is highly amusing, and just a bit off (he kills rats with his teeth. That boy ain’t right).
[livejournal.com profile] guede_mazaka is right. Ioan Gruffudd has spaniel hair. Also, spaniel eyes.
The guy who fights Horatio’s first duel with Simpson in his stead looks like Remus Lupin.
Virtually all late-18th century men’s hats look ridiculous.
No hat, no matter how ridiculous, looks silly on Captain Pellew. It wouldn’t dare.
Horatio and Archie are strange genetic mutants incapable of beard growth. They never have any stubble, even in Spanish prisons.
Archie is so the series’ designated uke.
On that note, Simpson was almost certainly sexually abusing him before Horatio showed up.
Captain Pellew has had some sort of tracking device planted in Horatio’s hair. This explains why, no matter where he and his crewmen are (a small boat in the middle of the ocean, a Spanish prison, etc.), the Indefatigable can always find them.
Horatio’s look of grim, steely-jawed determination is abso-fucking-lutely adorable.
Horatio and Archie’s love? Is pure and true, and practically canon.

Actually, the banana thing is more of an Otaku thing than anime club. While the membership overlaps a lot, banana-dubbing is done by Otaku, not WA2.

I understand. Sometimes the overlaps get confusing for me too. ^_^
