Okay, I’m in a much better mood now than I was last time I posted (though I still pretty much lack warm fuzzy feelings for the residents of certain hot and sandy war zones). Since my last post, I’ve made two dozen jars of strawberry jam (I got to mash ten cups of strawberries! It was great!), gone to my cousin Shawn’s graduation dinner (Hermitage High School, class of 2004), vacuumed the entire house (even the cobwebs on the ceiling—the evil spiders tried to escape my vacuum cleaner hose, but their desperate struggles were in vain as they were sucked down the shiny metal tube of death, their nasty little legs breaking off), reread the Iliad (Patroclus really got shafted in the movie, you know. He has a much larger part in the poem, one of the only voices of reason among the Acheans. Oh, and Achilles is clearly sleeping with him. With him and Briseis. Possibly at the same time), and watched two DVDs full of cheesy animated space opera.

*Happy sigh * I love space opera. I highly recommend “Crusher Joe” to any and all fellow cheesy space opera fans. And Captain Harlock. Oh my God, that man is the sexiest space pirate ever. I want to rip his wicked cool cape off, tear his clothing from his body, and shag him right there on the bridge of the Arcadia. I think it might have something to do with the scar across the bridge of his nose. Current goal: find more Matsumoto space opera. Preferably with Harlock in it. I don’t care what. I don’t even care if it has a plot. I just want to look at him some more. Oh, and as a second goal, I need to see Shrek 2, so I can shamelessly fangirl Antonio’s voice.

I’m not gonna admit to my family that that’s why I want to see it, though. They already think I’m hopelessly weird, and that’s without knowing about my crush on a cartoon cat with a rillyrilly sexy voice.

I may have to actually buy anime to get more '80s space opera

Gasp! Buying a movie? But that's so historical!

*snickering*

Yeah, I read about you downgrading to dial-up now that you're home. Shame, or else you could probably find downloads on the 'Net.

Actually, I can't download anime or songs at college either, 'cause Hollins has an evil firewall system that prevents you from using Streamload (or Morpheus, or Kazaa, or pretty much anything). They put it in place last summer, we suspect for the sole purpose of keeping people from downloading free music or video.
