Damn. Major gap since I last updated. Let’s see… since this weekend I’ve watched several more 1950s sci-fi films (today was Creature From the black Lagoon, which I highly recommend for eye-candy—the actress frequently appears in a bathing suit, and the leading guy spends most of the movie wet, wearing only swim trunks and a dive knife—hot stuff for 1954), and undergone the Saga of Hair Destruction.

Tuesday, I tried to highlight my hair, and learned an important lesson--don’t highlight your own hair; pay someone who knows what they’re doing to do it. Bad, blotchy, bleached bits. Dying everything reddish blonde did not remove them. So I did what I should have done in the first place, and went to the salon and paid someone to fix it. Next time, I’m just gonna skip the self-inflicted disaster step and go straight there. So anyway, my hair is now bright strawberry-blonde/red-gold with copper highlights. Significantly lighter than I originally wanted, but at least it’s not blotchy anymore.

I’m vastly relieved to have gotten everything fixed, so that I won’t have horridly fake-looking hair at the funeral this weekend.

On top of the Hair Saga, I got locked out of my dorm room last night when the wind (which was so strong the radio was issuing warnings) blew the door shut. At two a.m. So I walked across campus to the security office, barefoot, wearing only black silk boxers and a black camisole. Too bad the person on duty was a woman; a guy would have gotten a nice, half-naked damsel in distress.

But on the positive side, I’ve finished watching Sergio Leone’s Dollar trilogy (A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly). It’s great fun, and Clint Eastwood was surprisingly hot in 1964-67. Go. Rent. Now. On DVD or in widescreen, so that you can see all the participants in the various gunfight sequences (some shooters get cut out in the narrow screen version). *insert squeeing here * Cool shoot outs! The music. The music rocks! Eli Wallach’s character in TGtB&tU was so bloody fun. And then, of course, there’s The Man with No Name’s Ugly Green Poncho of Doom! I want an ugly green poncho like that.

Tonight, The Magnificent Seven. The only western ever to feature Yul Brynner. And Eli Wallach's in this movie too! Of course, I'm gonna have to do some serious mental gymnastics afterwards before returning to Mag7 fanfic, so as to scrub the images of Yul Brynner & Steve McQueen as Chris & Vin out of my brain.

Yes! Sergio Leone! Clint Eastwood and the classic spaghetti westerns!

And now you all know where 'Trio' really came from. For that matter, a good deal of my 'Mexico' fic.

By the way, if you really want to bend your mind, rent 'Paint Your Wagon.' It's a Western musical about a Mormon woman and her two husbands, one of whom is played by...*drumroll*...Clint Eastwood. Yes, Virgina, he can sing. And damn good, too.

Lisa: Did you get Emma? Didja? Didja?

Homer: No, honey. I got something even better. A violent, Clint Eastwood--Lee Marvin shoot-em-up western. Get ready to "Paint Your Wagon!"

Bart: With blood, I'll bet!

[/Simpsons geek mode]

Emma? Geez, who needs matchmakers when there're gringo-kitties ready and willing to tongue-bath your guns for you?

From: [identity profile] elspethdixon.livejournal.com

*chokes and dies* You just gave me evil, evil, metal images of that scene in The Good, the Bad, & The Ugly where Clint Eastwood is holding the kitten. It was so cute, and now it's so wrong.

That was an actual Simpson quote, BTW. The scene is followed up by a parody of "Paint Your Wagon" in which Clint Eastwood & Lee Marvin sing about primer and paintbrushes.

Oi. Maybe I should've wasted my childhood in front of the tube watching Simpsons.

Meant to give you more images of pretty blind gringo-kitty!Sands. My pet LJ 'Interest'.

Killer pun. Am deeply sorry.

My mother often prides herself on the fact that she discovered Clint Eastwood before anyone else did....

Strictly out of curiosity, where did you icon come from? I'm just wondering because I'm the person who recolored the pic and I kinda did a double-take seeing it in The Blacklist. COOL! *feels special*

From: [identity profile] elspethdixon.livejournal.com

You are? *boggles* Um, I can change it if you want, since I am using it without permission.

I found it on a Weiss Kruez website somewhere. One dedicated to Schuldig. HOwever, it's been over a year since then and I can't for the life of me remember which one or how to get to it.

From: [identity profile] kwobtchan.livejournal.com

Teufel, that's the only place it's posted that I know of. And heaven's, I'm not mad! Why, I laughed out loud when I saw it I was that tickled. It pleases me to know something I made on a whim is going to good use. And hey, it proves you have good taste in bishonen ^_~.

From: [identity profile] elspethdixon.livejournal.com

Yay! *claps hands* I can keep it (which is good, as it's pretty much my only icon). *pets pretty, pretty SchuSchu icon*

I cosplayed Schuldig at Katsucon last year about a week before getting an LJ, so it seemed appropriate.

From: [identity profile] thelauderdale.livejournal.com

That and she looks weirdly like it. Unless it's just been too long since I've seen you in person, L....

From: [identity profile] elspethdixon.livejournal.com

No, I do look a bit like the icon (well, if it Schuldig had blue eyes and glasses), especially when my hair is red.

My chin's not quite as pointy, though.

From: [identity profile] elspethdixon.livejournal.com

Usuually old Schuldig. I have costumes for both, but the other people that I'm probably going to cosplay with this year only do original Weiss (*cue rant about Yohji's hair, Ken's new costume, ect.*) so I'm probably going to stick with the green jacket and yellow bandana.

From: [identity profile] kwobtchan.livejournal.com

Oooh, ecclectic Weiss costumes. Hurray!

Rants are always OK with me though ^_~. In the mean time, since I made you worry so, can I interest you in ficlet written as per any whim you may have? I write for many fandoms <3. (The official request a fic entry for my LJ doesn't go up until Monday, so, to summarize, pretty much any manga or anime listed in my interests. The only off-limits pairings are Nagi/Omi, Aya/Youji, and Sephiroth/Cloud.)

From: [identity profile] elspethdixon.livejournal.com

Oooh, really? *wide eyes*

Well, you could write me a Wyatt/Doc ficlet (see whiney rant in my latest post (http://www.livejournal.com/users/elspethdixon/2004/01/16/). Or, for something not based on a western movie that doesn't even have a fandom, CrawfordxSchuldig.

From: [identity profile] kwobtchan.livejournal.com

Well, I actually DID see Tombstone as a child, so I have some inkling of what you're talking about with the slashy vibes. ^_^V Sadly, I'm not presently equipped to write for that fandom. Mostly because I just called my local video rental shop and they don't have it! What is wrong with people @_@.

So, any specifics for your Brad and Schuldich <3?

From: [identity profile] elspethdixon.livejournal.com

Hmmm... *ponders* I've never ordered a ficlet before. Light on the sap, since the idea of sappy Crawford (not to mention sappy Schuldig!) seems---unlikely, somehow, and if evil assassin/bodyguard activities are involved, so much the better.

From: [identity profile] kwobtchan.livejournal.com

*sniggers* You're in luck! I have a rare medical condition which prevents me from writing sap. I shall get started on that this afternoon! Am off to a Japanese noodle house for lunch- they're having a slurping contest and I mean to at least place for the certificate ^o^.
