Yay! I can get married in one of my home states now! (Come on, Episcopal Church, come on. Recognition of same-sex unions at the next General Convention, and some kind of prayer service for formally doing so in the prayer book, please please please. I'm so close to being able to get married at home in my home parrish/church now. Well, except for the part where seanchai isn't a Christian, but eh, technicalities.)
Oh, also Obama won the White House. The Maryland thing pleases me just as much, though, because it means that a major logistical barrier to my someday moving back home to St. Mary's County has been removed.

Last year the Episcopal church changed its policy so that their health insurance/partner benefits would cover all legally married partners. Which...stupid and not good enough. But it did mean my favorite priest and her wife went to New York and got married, and I think even though her marriage isn't legal in Georgia and she and her partner have been together for 20 years, it means a lot to her to be legally married somewhere and to have her workplace/her church recognize it.
