Yay! Jan/the Wasp is back! She was never actually dead, but instead trapped in the Mircroverse.
We're one Gillian-retconning-away-everything-Fraction wrote from fixing the entire Marvel U! (Also, my headcanon that the space-cosmic-Jan-whatever thing was not actually Jan but instead Hank being crazy is confirmed).
The whole issue just makes me so happy. It's my Avengers team, the team of my heart, the one I'd basically given up on ever seeing together in comics again after both New Avengers (even though that was fun and Spiderman and Luke are awesome), the mansion being sold to Luke, and the movies not including Hank and Jan. I really thought the movie leaving her out and EMH being replaced with a cartoon featuring the movie line-up was a final death-knell/nail in the coffin for both the character and the original team.
There's a whole panel of her flinging herself into Hank's arms and kissing him ^_^. It filled my shipper heart with glee, even though I'd long since stopped expecting Marvel canon to fill said heart wit anything but bitterness and woe and hate. Then she goes on to kiss all the other male Avengers as well, because it's Jan, and hey, if you were a straight woman who had a good excuse to kiss Captain America and Thor on the lips, wouldn't you?
Seanchai, who is smarter than I am, is telling me that it's a bad idea to be enthusiastic and that Marvel will only ruin this somehow the way Fraction and his amnesia plot ruined Steve coming back, and that the smart thing to do is stay uninvolved and go read about something happy and light where truly bad things never happen (like maybe Homestuck, or one of the more disturbing and nihilistic CLAMP manga, or a Greek Tragedy, all of which are light fluffy fun compared to being a comics fan) but hey, for the first time in almost five years, something good happened to the Avengers - the real original classic Avengers - in an Avengers comic!
