So, okay, today was the first day of UCC's blood drive, and the campus LGTB society has spent most of it picketing in front of the Aula Maxima to protest the fact that Ireland won't take blood from homosexual men (AIDS, you know, because, of course, all gay guys sleep around and have AIDS). Before you went in to give blood, you could stop at their station and put your name down on a list as "substitute" for a homosexual guy (y'know, you're giving blood because he can't).

So I did. And then I went and filled out forms and got my iron levels tested and came out a pint lighter. Now I feel kind of sick, and my hands are shaking, just like when I go too long without eating and then comsumes lots of sugar--though that might be due to the two candy bars and the orange soda they gave me afterwards.

On the plus side, prior to donating blood, I went to the Cork Library and found the soundtrack to Desperado. I'm pretty sure my eyes lit up in unholy glee when I saw in on the CD rack.

What a load of crap. They should be testing the blood no matter the orientation of the donor--EVERYONE can get AIDS under the right...well, under the wrong circumstances....Hope you're feeling better by the time you read this.

Yeah, that's kind of the point most of the people on campus were making. *laughs* The guys in line behind me at waiting to donate kept saying things like "But what if I think I might be gay, but I'm not sure? Can I still donate? Is there goin' t'be a test? Are they goin' t'show us pictures of hot women and ask if it turns us on?"

Feelinguch better now, thanks ^_^
