I always forget the internet exists when I'm at a con, because there are other fans RIGHT THERE to talk to, so LJ/DW's not necessary. Also, I kept talking to people in panels and only afterward finding out that they were from my flist.
I'm sort of amused at the number of people who won't discuss the ff_a meme on their journals who were all "I saw this discussion about X on the fail-anon meme" in panel discussions. It's pretty much the only place to have pan-fandom/multi-fandom meta discussions now that metafandom is virtually defunct.
Highlights:
- lightgetsin's dog sleep-barking during the Dresden Files panel.
- The SGA vids to "Soccer Practice" and "You Told the Drunks I Knew Karate."
- The Avengers panel, which managed not to turn into the Loki fangirls panel and had a lot of discussion about Black Widow and Bruce Banner.
- The Avengers porn movie we watched at the Avengers room party (with the porn parts edited out and replaced by little "And then they had sex" title cards, which meant the whole thing ended up about ten minutes long). The costumes were note-perfect to the comics, the 'acting' was hilariously terrible, the dialogue was cheesy and bad, and there was a scene were Ms. Marvel and the Scarlet Witch made out.
Downsides:
- Seanchai's pointy-haired boss wouldn't let her go (he combines a general complete lack of comprehension about how the internet works with periodic attempts to micromanage everything his tech department does, hence pointy-haired).
- I almost got into a fight with the mod during the comics panel because she turned out to be a die-hard Fraction fangirl (this after almost not going beccause of the risk that someone might bring up Fraction or some other Marvel topic I always turn into a shrieking harpy about, and then deciding it was probably safe because almost everyone who reads comics has seen the light about him now, right?).
- At Muskrat Jamboree, I got sick after the dance party because I drank too much water in an effort not to be dehydrated. This time, I couldn't find wherever they were keeping the water, and ended up getting sick because I didn't drink anything all night (and got dehydrated). It's probably a good thing I never go clubbing.

Anyway it was a very good demonstration for everybody of what being a serious comics fan means.

It's not a true comics discussion until people are at one another's throats over which writer is the worst thing ever and totally not canon.

I'm sorry you got sick. Sounds like a fun con otherwise.
