Having decided to forgo sleep Sunday night in favour of a marathon PoTC ficcing session, I now give y'all Skin & Bones, the prequel to "A Pirate's Life," in which Jack and Anamaria discuss (and don't discuss) their respective issues, and Jack gets his skull tattoo.

It wasn't originally supposed to be this long, or this angsty and creepy, but the more I wrote the more issues they seemed to acquire. Anamaria's little confession about mid-way through really snuck up on me.

This one doesn't have any ballad quotes. I thought about "Death & The Lady" or "Down Amoung the Dead Men," but neither really seemed right.

It's a conspiracy. Y'all never want me to be caught up with my fic reading...do you. *eyes flist nervously*

Yes, it is. We are all out to steal your free time. The neighbour's cat is the ringleader.

Eeep. That was just... wow. So lyrical and touching and just... mmm. I'm sleepy. Sorry *l* I liked your fic a lot, though. Anamaria saying that when she first won her freedom, she was afraid to sleep, too. Jack prefering to spend all day and all night at the heml rather than go sleep. Sleep? Who needs sleep, when you have your Pearl back? It was just lovely :o) And the little bits of interaction between Anamaria and Jack. The way Jack only tells stories of his successes *w* Poor baby, though, all worn out and hurt and I just want to cuddle him. Because hurt/comfort is my favourite :o) And I haven't read A Pirate's Life, but now I have to read it. Definitely. As soon as I find the start. Do you have a website you've archived it on? And Skin and Bones was just lovely and what a great way to get hooked onto a new fic just when I need to study :o) Good luck for you exams, too. I'm freaking out over mine. Or I would be, if I weren't too sleepy to be. But I'll be back in a bit to read and review all of A Pirate's Life!

Thanks you! *dances in a happy circle* Anamaria doesn't get to be cool often enough, and I severely under-used her in "A Pirate's Life" (which can be found <a href="http://www.skyehawke.com/archive/authors.php?no=125>here</a> at my skyehawke.com account), so I wanted to give her a shot at the spotlight. Alongside Jack, of course. <i>Because hurt/comfort is my favourite </i> Mine too. I think I was warped somehow when I read Diana Gabaldon's <i>Outlander</i> (which has some of the most outrageous h/c and torture-type stuff I've ever seen outside of slash fanfic--including flogging, twice) at the tender age of eleven.

FB: A Pirate's Life

Oh. Just read through "A Pirate's Life", very quickly during a break... only I have a feeling I'd have read it just as quickly without the time constraints. Only in more detail. So I'll have to go back and read it again (but I want to read it over and over anyway so that's not a problem), but for the moment, I just have to tell you that I loved it!! There was all the good stuff, like a plausable plot (you got Will away from Liz and with Jack in such a logical way!), and an OFC who wasn't a Mary Sue, non-Evil!Norrington! And lovely fluid vivid descriptive emotive prose that was so easy to read... like drinking iced chocolate. Yummy. Smooth. Easy to get down. Want more! You have all of that, but then you had - Jack hurt/comfort. *melts into a little puddle* omigosh... that was just so *perfect* and just what I wanted after too much study... Loved all of it! Even though I know it wasn't strictly h/c, and it fit very well into the storyline, but I just melted at the bits where he was hurting... in the cell, where he throws up on Norrington's boots (LOL!!!), and then Norrington feels bad because he might have hit Jack too hard (aww... see? Norrington is *not* a bad guy - I'm so glad you wrote him this way!) and then when Will and Elizabeth try to get him on the boat and he stumbles and they both want to comfort him... awwww *melts more* It was just perfect! And this is the first ever J/W/E that I've liked, mainly because it's believable, and because you've written them all (esp Elizabeth, who doesn't seem to get written in a very Elizabethan manner, usually) so well that I feel for all of them, and like all of them, and want them all to live happily ever after, together!

Anyway, just had to say I really enjoyed reading it! :o) I look forward to reading more from you. If hurt/comfort is your favourite, too, does that mean we can be expecting to see some in the not-too-distant-future? *hopeful* Actually, I'll email you about that...

Thanks for a wonderful read!
