If CLAMP were to make a manga/anime about the Avengers, which character(s) would end up losing an eye? (keeping in mind that Bucky/Winter Soldier already fulfills the need for a cyborg arm, and that Nick Fury probably doesn't count for angsty/slashy eye-loss purposes).

I have to vote Night Nurse so she can wear a latex nursing uniform with her eyepatch.

i'm gonna have to say clint, if only because losing an eye would really screw up who he is.

Well...this wasn't Blankest Night related. This was JLA related. :\ And therefore, worse. And canon. some of us were hoping the Cry for Justice series wasn't canon. But, alas, it is. So. *kidnaps Roy and doesn't let the meanie people near him*

I don't know from comics, but my chat room tells me the proper answer is "all of them, possibly in several different timelines."

where is my Fuuma icon dammit

DAMMIT NOW MY BRAIN IS TRYING TO PLOT OUT SUBARU AND SEISHIROU'S STORY ARC THROUGH TOKYO BABYLON AND X ONTO STEVE AND TONY

Because clearly the two sides in X is the whole SHRA thing, which makes Steve Subaru and Tony Seishirou, and maybe the whole Sakurazukamori thing is his, idk, drinking/bad decisions/something IDK, but then STEVE is the one who dies at the end, where in X it's SEISHIROU. So then TONY should be Subaru because he totally angsts and it pretty much just destroys most of his will to live-

Re: where is my Fuuma icon dammit

ahaha episodes, yeah. I have never seen all of the X anime but I have seen the (awesomely terrible) X movie and read most of the manga that has been released. CLAMP paused X to work on xXxholic and Tsubasa so poor X fans have been sitting waiting for YEARS for their continuation ;_;

Well TECHNICALLY if we were going to do a proper fusion Kamui and Fuuma, as leaders of their respective factions, should map onto Steve and Tony (assuming an SHRA-timeline match-up) instead of Subaru and Seishirou. I am just stupidly fond of Subaru and Seishirou because they have a long and tragic backstory and I LOVE THEM SO MUCH ;_;

I don't really know anything about the X-men (other than the movies) so I can't comment on that. But yeah, Yuzuriha and uh, oh it has been too long, whatsisname who likes nature, that definitely fits the DC bill!

CLINT IS FUUMA, YES? But Tsubasa!Fuuma, not X!Fuuma. X!Fuuma is DOOOOOOOOOM. does that make Reed Kamui

On the other hand... Jan is totally Tomoyo, so Hank is clearly Sakura, which poses the question of IS CLINT SYAORAN? SOURCES POINT TO OH HELL YES. Okay maybe not in that arrangement. WE WILL MAKE THIS WORK, DAMMIT.

...oh dear now I will never stop thinking about it

if I end up writing fic it is ENTIRELY YOUR FAULT.
iambickilometer: (think harder professor)

From: [personal profile] iambickilometer

Well, if we're getting into Tsubasa... I think the X-Men work better for that. What with the clones and the dying and the alternate realities and all that. Emma Frost is Yuuko, Magneto is Fei Wong Reed, Xavier is Clow Reed. Tell me that doesn't work.

I'm thinking Tony would be Takeshi from CLAMP Campus Defenders, and the Living Armour would be Kentarou. Nokuro is clearly Nick Fury.

Seanchai is a wise being. :D

Also, can I just say, this is a meeting of two of my main fandoms (ex-main, in CLAMP's case) that I NEVER EVER EXPECTED TO SEE. My brain is sort of broken. In a good way.
iambickilometer: (oh whoops sorry professor)

That's what I figured, Jean being TRC!Sakura. I think Scott could pull off TRC!Syaoran, especially Real!Syaoran. And Cloney!Scott would be adorable.

If Emma is Yuuko... yeah, Kitty and Rachel could work. Kitty is totally Watanuki. Illyana is Himawari?

(Do you mind if I friend you? I keep ending up at your journal anyway; I might as well make it easier on myself.)

lsrjg[orpet CHI AS JOCASTA. I JUST SPITTAKED BUT YES. THOR AS MOKONA. YES. YES. A THOUSAND TIMES YES. And Steve as Kurogane would work at least in terms of culture shock, values, and martial ability. Vision could be the black Mokona? I think Cassie would make a better Zashiki-Warashi, with Kate as the Ame-Warashi. I also support Doom as Faux Wang Fei Wong, and Reed as Clow.

...now I really want to write Acid Tokyo X-Men, god damn. With Magneto as Kamui and Xavier as Fuuma (or possibly vice-versa). I don't know if I can match the others up. It's been a while since I read X.

Maybe I'll just draw it.
iambickilometer: (easily done)

From: [personal profile] iambickilometer

You mean Amaterasu? I think that's her name, anyway. But yes. Wanda definitely fits the part. Wolverine is Kurogane, clearly. I'm tempted to say Nightcrawler is Fai, though he's not nearly angsty or gay enough. Damn. Northstar? Fits the sibling angst bill at least. But I'm fairly sure Wolverine and Northstar have no chemistry whatsoever. Damn.

VISION IS MOKONA.

kdfjzhdgkhjdk THAT. AHAHAHAHAHA. I was actually wanting to write a story where Yuuko was a previous Sorceress Supreme, and they had a chat after Stephen lost the title. I should do that.
iambickilometer: (considering it with my brain)

From: [personal profile] iambickilometer

Yeah, I can see that. Man. I have to write this.

Okay, that would be kind of cool too. Billy's not quite spastic enough, or enough in denial at all, but Teddy definitely is laid back enough to be Doumeki. (Though way less stoic, holy shit.)

It's got mythic resonance!

No idea what CLAMP is about (and I really don't want to know), but losing an eye? Thor. In return, he gets wisdom and a raven. He also gets additional father issues (angst angst angsity angst).

Also, didn't Jarvis already lose an eye, due to an attack by the Masters of Evil? I have a clear mental image of a Buscema/Palmer Jarvis with an eyepatch.

Didn't Spiderman actually lose an eye in that bizarro spider-god storyline? Sure, he got better, but there's clearly precedent.

Yeah, that's the one. I read it on Marvel's digital comics site, so I don't remember the exact issues, but there was definitely some good Steve/Tony moments, and some nice Tony-Peter (and MJ) friendship, among all the ickywrongbad stuff.

Heh. I can see how discovering Steve/Tony by way of Spiderman comics might be kind of confusing.

I love the Ultimate Avengers DVDs, but despite having "Ultimate" in the title, I think they're actually more like a grownup version of Marvel Adventures. Heck, that sequence at the start of the first movie, where Steve wakes up in the present, thinks he's surrounded by Nazis, fights his way out of the SHIELF facility and finds himself in the middle of teeming modern-day New York? It's totally in one of the MA Superheroes comics.
