I just spent thirty minutes staring at google maps and mapquest attempting to pick a location in Manhattan that, when plotted with the Wall Street financial district and the intersection of Broadway and 44th street (sight of the theatre where The Lion King is performed), would allow one to triangulate Trinity Cathedral.

For a throwaway line about attacking Doombots.

(final decision: southern end of Central Park, probably the pond there, so that the 'bots can try to fry little children feeding the ducks or something).

LOL! I just did the same thing last week on my latest Spidey-chapter. I was absolutely mesmerized for probably an hour, playing with the new "Street-Level" maps, or whatever they're called.

And all to find out whether my character could be sitting on a bench near the Miller Theater at Columbia University!

You'll have to add in the descriptions, since I don't actually know what it looks like there (though I'm proud that I located Matt's cathedral by googling "Manhattan" and "cathedrals" and looking at pictures--damn, Maleev's art is good to make that possible).

No problem there - I used to walk there, when I was in highschool

The Minskoff is actually on 45th St. But I don't think that should mess up your triangulation.

(Also, K-Mart employees wear red vests, not blue. So if you're crazy for researching minute details in your fic, I'm crazier for being even nitpickier as your beta. But, you know. Well-researched fics = win. Your fic in particular.)

Mapquest is a faulty resource at best ^_^, but it wouldn't mess up the triangulation (but we'll change both that and the vests--I think we were probably subconsciously thinking of Wal*Mart vests there).
