Cho does this weird, line-y thing with faces that I find annoying (his Danny Rand is also odd-looking). It works on one or two characters, like Dr. Strange, but over-all, he's not one of my favorite artists.
After all, half the point of New Avengers at the moment is Luke Cage's hotness, and how can said hotness be properly appreciated through the filter of clunky art?
*head desk* And I just realized that I got Fank Cho mixed up in my head with Leinil Yu, who also draws people's faces weird, but in a different way. Cho is the Mighty Avengers guy who can only draw women, right? (though I'll give him that he at least draws women well).
Granov is awesomely talented--not every artist can do such a great job on both machines and people. The cover in the middle, with Tony playing with the welding torch, is one of my favorite Iron Man covers ever (with the possible exception of the ever-glorious cover to #172).
Close, but not quite. #172 is the one where Cap is carrying Tony out of a burning building in a pose that's supiciouly like the poster for Gone With The Wind.
The issue itself reads like a Harlequin novel based on a Tennessee Williams play (you know, if "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" had had superheroes).
Here you go; Iron Man 172 (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RAQ4FIV1) This is from right in the middle of the drinking arc, which, aside from some unfortunate art, and a little heavy-handedness, is actually all really good, and probably the most vital to understanding the character. And which could be made available, if so desired
Also, as a bonus, have Captain America 228, (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=94P62F4Z) which contains the best set up for a PWP ever.
*nods agreement* I've got about 60% of Iron Man on my hard drive, and seanchai has pretty much all of it, back to Tales of Suspense, so between us, we can hook you up.
If you keep on going through the very end of the arc (i.e. where all the plot threads are finally tied up), it runs from volume 1 #166 through #216. (with #128, "Demon in a Bottle," as necessary backstory).
The actual drinking is about #167 - #185. #166 is set-up, and then in #186 on there's all the fall-out from it, and the eventual face-off against Obediah Stane.
*nods in sycophantic agreement* It really is, despite the occasionally clunky art and clue-hammer/Over-the-top moments. If it were being written today, it would be utter brilliance. As it is, it's occasionally overly-earnest brilliance.
I read the whole thing in about a week this winter, when I was trying to avoid some RL/family woes. Tony's nervous breakdown was good vicarious therapy.
(of course the downside of using Tony for vicarious therapy was that the end of Civil War/Captain America 25/the Confession utterly destroyed me, thanks to the serious amount fo emotional investment I'd gained)
I'll get as many of them up as I can, and then send you to a page with all of the links. It'll take me a little while because there are a lot, but I should be able to get a substantial number up this evening.
Many, many Iron Man comics (http://community.livejournal.com/az_nightingale/76099.html)
And there you go. The whole drinking arc. If you think you'd like to read more, just ask. I've got everything, I love sharing, and I can always get up the stuff with the good art, and more subtle writing.
^^ It makes me so happy to get other people to read Iron Man. It's such a fun title. Well, fun if you're a geek who likes hurt/comfort, tech geekry, and surprisingly solid political plots.
Also, because it occurred to me that everyone needs to read it: The Confession. (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2WH8E2IZ) Because it's one of the best bits of pure tragedy I've ever read - and I'm saying that unironically, as an English lit major who focused on the Romantic era.
Very few pieces of literature have killed me as thoroughly as that did. I put it up there with that scene in Tosca where Tosca is pleading with Mario to get up again because the soldiers are gone.
To honestly be tragedy, there has to be that one moment of hope, when things could have been salvaged, if only... and The Confession has that, in the second half. Normally, Bendis's fondness for flashbacks and multiple timelines is irksome, but not there.

*nods* I'm so glad they're using the Granov armor for the movie (also, iconlove).

I don't always like Cho's art (his Tony and Steve, especially, look a little weird). But the colors are always really neat.

There are too many issues in the arc to download in one go (over 50 issues), but we can start uploading them again, in sequence.
