Fixit fic has now hit 48 pages and over 19,000 words, and our main pairing have only just laid eyes on one another for the first time. The New Avengers should be declared a controlled substance for conversation porn addicts. The fic is supposed to be Steve/Tony emo porn, not pages and pages of Luke, Peter, and Danny snarking at each other while Dr. Strange plays Captain Exposition. And yet, our count thus far: One paragraph of Steve/Tony interaction, a handful of scenes from Tony's pov, and four very, very long scenes of New Avengers conversation porn. With gratuitous Nick Fury.

I'm really inordinately proud of the amount of plot that we've got in this thing.

My one real problem is that I can't take Doom seriously. Even though we've got him set up as a grave-robbing, chaos-power-coveting, could-destroy the world-if-he-gets-his-hands-on-Loki's-spearhead villain, I just can't stop myself from mocking him.

It will be good when we start focussing more on the Mandarin and Red Skull, since them, I can take seriously (and what does it say about Doom that the commie-Nazi with a skull for a head and the guy who used to have Fin Fang Foom for a minion are less snicker-eliciting?).

Doom likes to hold a chalice of blood-red wine to purely to swirl for dramatic effect - given that there's no way he can drink it through that mask.
