(And after comics, comes the Library of Congress visit and then quality time with microfilm. I've found that the research for my history project becomes more interesting if I think of it as 'Stalking Dead People').

Recently, I've found myself wanting to read not just the sort of opera-like plotty H/c epics that are my not-so-secret fannish delight, but less dramatic scenarios as well.
Way back when, when I first entered fandom as an 18 fresh out of high school, I had no interest in fluffy, domestic fic (with the exception of a few Remus/Sirius fics of the "Lie Low at Lupin's" sort, with the bathing and the soup and... but those were more of a subsiduary of h/c anyway). I wanted action. I wanted drama. I wanted plotty gen and long, angsty het and/or slash romantic sagas. I wanted H/c like there was no tomorrow. Curtainfic was boring and could go hang itself.
The only time I really had much of an interest in characters doing everyday things like, say, shopping, was if it was funny.
These days... I don't know if it's because I'm finally old enough to want some domesticity and home-building of my own, or if it's because I've fallen so hard for various comics characters over the past year, but now I crave (good) domesticity fic.
I want Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson bantering while preparing legal briefs. I want Jay Garrett and Alan Scott on a road trip together, possibly with Powergirl and Wildcat bickering in the backseat. I want Flashes and Green Lanterns going to Starbucks together ("I'll have a tall capuccino with three shots of sugar syrup and a chocolate-chip cookie. No, make that four cookies." "And I'll have plain, black coffee and two of Barry's cookies. Um... oh, damn. Barry, can I borrow a dollar?"). I want happy, fluffy Avengers teamfic--volume 3 Avengers, or vol 1, or early New Avengers before it all went to hell--where they watch movies, or have Thanksgiving dinner, or, like, go to baseball games or something. I want reams worth of Cap/Iron Man denialfic where they spar together and have dinner dates wherein they discuss Avengers team stuff and oh, wait, that used to be canon ^_^. Regardless, there should be fic about it.
Of course, I also still want long, action-packed emo-porn Marvel-verse epics and Daredevil/Elektra pr0n, and really good H/c is still my fic holy grail. And if anyone wrote cracked-out Maya Hanson/She-Ultron femslash, I would love you forever.
And a long, action-packed emo-porn Avengers denialfic with H/c and Cap/Iron Man shippiness would make my year. Especially if it had Winter Soldier and Nick Fury in it. And Hawkeye. And was blatant, unapologetic wish-fulfillment fixit fic for Civil War.
