I got to talk to Sarah today!!!! *dances in glee * Poor Sarah. Apparently, one of the cadets in her cadre (that's the group of first year--senior--cadets who boss the Basic Cadets around) is pretty much Prof. Snape in uniform--every time a cadet gives up and goes home, he is happy and proud because he drove them away. Fortunately, they are about to start the second half of basic, and won't have to deal with him anymore--they'll be in a new squad.
She was so happy to be able to talk to us. It sounds like she's doing pretty well there--she's not as good as the boys, of course, since girls can never compete with boys physically, but she tries hard and doesn't give up, which they respect her for. Her least favourite thing, she says, is doing crawls with Nate-Dog (very hard, and she's not used to not being good stuff). That, and reveille. She claims to now hate that song with a passion.
So, on the one hand, I'm all bouncy and happy. Except that we found out last night that Bob Hoh, a friend of my Dad's whom I think I've mentioned here before, died this weekend. So I'm happy about the Sarah call, but sad about that. Especially since we had to tell Sarah about it when she called.
And I still want someone to write a good Pirates of the Carribean Jack/Elizabeth/Will threesome. I wasn't kidding about that yesterday.
