Oh, my God; All of y'all, go see Pirates of the Caribbean. Go see it now. Now, I tell you. Now! It's not precisely Oscar quality cinema, but it's loads of fun. The sword fights are great, the undead pirate skeletons are just as gruesome as the ones on the ride, and Orlando Bloom is even cuter as a human than as an elf (plus, he spends half the movie telling Cameron Diaz, "Elizabeth, I love you," and it pleased a small and immature part of me to hear him say that). And Johnny Depp… he makes the entire movie. His "Captain Jack Sparrow" is hilarious, flamboyant, and like most of his roles, just a bit unhinged. And hot. Did I mention hot? And he wears kohl around his eyes--thus making the glitter-verse fan in me very happy.

I cannot wait until the decent writers out there start producing fanfic for this. I want a Jack/Elizabeth/Will threesome fic and I want it now!

In other news, AirForceBasicCadet!Sarah has written us another letter. She sounds like she's surviving--she says that half the time she hates it there, and half the time she loves it. They've gotten their rifles, and are now running, doing push-ups, and crawling through mud pits and so on with them. They don't have to memorize the Marine Corps rifle prayer ("I love my rifle. Without my rifle, I am nothing. Without me, my rifle is nothing. Together, we are a finely honed killing machine"), but they did have to name them. Sarah named hers Nathaniel. She calls him "Nate-Dog" for short (loong story. She once said that if she ever had a kid she'd name him Nathaniel Daniel and call him Nate-Dog." This was once she'd decided that she no longer wanted to name him "Jimbo").

Finally, my Mom and I went to Blockbusters today and I was blown away to see that they actually have some decent anime now. For example: Reign. Sadly, all of it is on DVD, and we don't have a DVD player yet. And all copies of Gangs of New York (which I still haven't seen, God damn it) were checked out. So we got How to Lose a Man in 10 Days and spent an hour and a half drooling over Matthew McConaughey's southern accent. Which was, I fear, the major selling point of the movie. *sighs* As far as romantic comedy goes, I prefer Oscar Wilde.

Oh yeah, and Blockbuster has Angel Sanctuary too. Angel Sanctuary! At Blockbuster. The one with the cross dressing and incest and boy-boy love and angels having sex. At Blockbuster. I was floored. I've only read the manga (scanslations), and didn't even know that it had been officially released in America. I'm amazed. And pleased. If AS has hit Blockbuster, there's hope for an English translation of the Saiyuki manga yet.
