The letter is lovely, and much classier than they deserve.
Oddly enough, most of the fanfic crusades on the 'Net seem to be directed at book-based ones, and not films. It would seem that copyright violation would apply equally to both, but the filmmakers and actors don't seem to mind as much. Curious, really.
