This is a really interesting post. After just surviving round whatever-the-fuck-that-was of m/m vs. gay men (etc), it's really nice to read a positive encounter between a fellow queer person and slash.
Have you read The Lesbian Menace by Sherrie Inness? It's largely about how queer portrayals in fiction focused the straight community's reaction to the RL lesbian community, and is a very good read.
