Some of her earlier short stories, not in any of her main universes, have gay characters that are really, really wrong. It's not even that they hit bad stereotypes - it's that she seems to be writing gay men as *completely inhuman*, and in a way that seems to be tinged with sexual threat against straight women, which is just ... weird. Plus, she seemed to think that just by writing them, she was doing the species of gay men a giant favor.
