Thete had a post today listing things she loved about DC fandom, which was squeeful and affirming and happy and further cemented my suspicion that DC fandom is predominantly in it for the porn rather than the canon.

Becuase if I were to list what I love about being a Marvel fan...

...it would be Remy and Rogue's on-again-off-again-white-trash-drama-of-a-romance, and Rogue's bomber jacket from the good old days of Jim Lee art, and Gambit's trenchcoat, and Cap's red boots (omg, floppy musketeer boots are love!), and Spiderman's nonstop stream-of-consciousness snark, and the Kingpin's ever-fascinating creepiness, and the way the X-Men and the Avengers are/were both as much a family as they are/were a team, and Wolverine's claws going "SNIKT," and adamantium, and vibranium, and Mystique & Destiny's canonical lesbian love, and Deadpool's 4th-wall-breaking insanity, and the fact that Frank Miller worte for Marvel back in the days when he was good, and how hot Matt Murdock looks in red leather with his mask off, and Rogue throwing herself between Remy and Vargas's sword, and Remy calling Rogue "chere," (actually, I love both Gambit and Rogue's cliched, phonetically-spelled accents with a completely unironic love), and the way Steve Rogers stares at his feet and rubs the back of his neck uncomfortably whenever anyone compliments him, and Jim Lee's art in the old X-Men comics, and Alex Maleev's art on Daredevil, and the fact that Magneto is right even though he's the villain, and Luke and Danny eating chinese take-out together, and Matt grandstanding in front of a jury, and the fact that Marvel has consistantly attempted to write characters with PTSD, depression, bipolar disorder, etc, and Foggy and Matt hugging and crying because Foggy's Not Dead After All, and Tony and Steve's blatantly obvious love, and the way someone in a crowd scene will always have an anti-mutant sign, and Daredevil kicking ass and taking names, and Winter Soldier's cybernetic arm, and Nick Fury's cynical attitude, and Gambit lighting cigarettes with the tip of his finger, and the Savage Land, and the helicarrier, and SHIELD's flying car, and the fact that Gambit and Captain America both ride Harleys, and Matt's "radar-sense," and the fact that Brian Michael Bendis and Ed Brubaker both share at least half my fictional kinks, and Tony Stark's armor coming to life and falling in love with him, and the fact that, after 15 years of reading fantasy and sci-fi, Gambit's red-on-black eyes are still the coolest non-human pysical trait I've ever seen, and the fact that Joe Quesada, unlike Didio, actually started out as an artist and writer, and Stilt-Man being the stupidest villain ever, and William Stryker being a blatantly obvious slam against right-wing Christians, and Spiderman swinging through Manhatten on weblines, and Daredevil crouching on Hell's Kitchen's rooftops in the dark, and Tony wearing the armor even when it's killing him, and J. Jonah Jameson's consistantly and unashamedly biased reporting, and radioactive zombies, and alien Nazis, and random ninjas, and the entire concept of mutants, and Victor Von Doom's melodramatic posturing, and how hot Carol Danvers looks in her Ms. Marvel costume, and Tony Stark's cheekbones and ridiculously long eyelashes, and the fact that my OTPs are all canon (and yes, I include Captain America/Iron Man as a canon pairing, especially post The Confession), and Gambit coming back to Rogue even though she left him in Antartica, and the way Civil War and it's aftermath ripped my heart out, and the fact that Marvel staff have a sense of humor about their universe, and the way writers used to talk to you in the footnotes, and the way the whole 'verse is tied together, with Spiderman fighting the Kingpin alongside Daredevil and X-Men joining the Avengers, and the Daily Bugle writing biased copy about everyone... and I could go on and on.
