Yay! [livejournal.com profile] pixyofthestyx is coming this evening. Of course, this will necessitate me driving to DC and back to pick her up, so there’s a possibility that we won’t survive the kamikaze commuters on the beltway.

This past weekend, I house sat for some neighbours of ours and took care of their dog, Taz, who is/was utterly adorable. Apparently, it’s difficult to find people willing to housesit a Doberman—however, since my family has a German Shepard/wolfhound mix approximately the size of a pony, a Doberman is little and cute in comparison (any dog you actually have to bend down to pet is little—a big dog’s head should come up to your hip). Taz was very sweet, and followed me all around the house constantly to make sure that I wasn’t going to go away and leave her, too. Compared to Wyleigh (the Shepard/wolfhound mix), she was eerily quiet, though I’m not sure if that was because Dobermans are trained/bred not to bark, or because Wyleigh is a very vocal dog who makes Wookie-like sounds at you all day long to try and get your attention.

Business at the airport has slowed to a crawl, as the bay area gets its first real rain in months. It’s been pouring since last Friday, which makes me pity the poor re-enactors who were camped out at Point Lookout State Park this Saturday and Sunday. On the other hand, being cold, wet, and miserable is probably a pretty apt thing for Confederate re-enactors to do at Point Lookout, since that’s pretty much what the Confederates there did during the war (along with starving and dying of every disgusting nineteenth century disease known to man).
