In an amazing co-incidence, my transcript from UCC finally arrived today. I've got three A minuses, one B, and a C (in History of Northern Ireland. The first C I've gotten since middle school, but thoroughly deserved). One of those A- was in Celtic Saints, so my fervent prayer to St. Finbarr (patron saint of UCC) during the final were answered.
In other news, I went to the Holocaust Museum with a group of other Hollins and Roanoke College students this Sunday, and damn, was it intense. I mean, there wasn't any information there that was really new to me (I am currently studying WWII for the forth time), but actually seeing the photographs and artifacts gives it so much more impact. I was really surprised, though, to discover just how many other people in our tour group (we got mixed up with a couple of high school classes on a field trip) didn't already know about everything.
The Museum also has just about the best collection of literature on the Holocaust anywhere in its book store. I seriously consedered buying a bok on gays during the Holocaust, but having already spent $30 on Maus (brilliant graphic novel. Go read it), I didn't have the cash.
Ah, that would be because I'd already spent the rest of my cash on CDs at Walmart. I am now the happy owner of a Kid Rock CD, a Billy Idol CD, the new Linkin Park CD, and Dark Side of the Moon. I expect the complaints from my hall mates to arrive any day.
And speaking of "White Weddings," everyone should go read
guede_mazaka's new Sands/El/Carolina piece. 'Cause it rocks.
