Five questions meme, from
figliaperduta.
1. What is your favourite book and why?
Tolkien's The Hobbit, because my Dad read it aloud to me when I was eight. Also, it was the first real fantasy novel I'd ever been exposed to.
2. What poem or song is most relevant to your life at the current time?
I've always been fond of Edgar Allen Poe's "Alone" ("From childhood's hour I have not been/as others were--I have not seen/as others saw--I could not bring/my passions from a common spring").
For songs, "Eternal Father Strong to Save," by William Whiting & John B. Dykes, because it is the the Hymn for both the Navy and (with alternate lyrics) the Air Force, and is therefore the song for just about anyone who has friends of relatives in the military and/or overseas. It's also the hymn I've always associated with funerals (it's traditionally played at all Navy funerals), and I've been to two of those recently.
Also, "My Immortal," by Evanescence. It's the post-OotP Remus/Sirius song, and the end of OotP made a major (largely negative) impression on me this summer.
3. If you could hold one job, and only one job, for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Best-selling author. No seriously, probably copy editor for a major fantasy/sci-fi publishing house, like Ace or Tor.
4. Somewhere, somehow, you come up with a million dollars. What's the very first thing that crosses your mind upon recieving this information?
The rest of my college education is covered! And I can send my cousins to college too. Oh yeah, and I don't have to worry about getting that editing job anymore.
5. If you could vacation anyplace in the world for two weeks, but after that two weeks, you knew you could never go back there again, where would you go?
Paris, France. England, Ireland, and Switzerland are all places that I would want to go back to, but Paris I think is a city I could be happy with just two weeks in. Two weeks to see Notre Dame cathedral and the Louvre.
If you would like me to ask you five questions, post a reply, and I will give you some. You then post the answers on your livejournal.
