*face palms* Yeah, probably should have left it, but I thought maybe I'd gone overboard for someone else's journal. You can re-post it if you'd like.
I've still got it in my email inbox -- I can repost the text of it if you'd like. Or not. It's mostly for venting purposes, I assume.
That's a brilliant impulse. Oddly this is the first time I really come across this sort of mentally. Maybe it is because the fandom is so small, but I can't ever remember being chewed out in Highlander or Due South for slashing best friends.
No, in dueSouth fandom, you get chewed out for slashing Fraser with the wrong best friend. (is there even any non-slash fannish activity for that show? Even the het and gen I've seen for it has all been written by slashers). Personally, I like Fraser/RayK, but I could never quite get into the way some of the main F/RayK writers wrote Fraser.
I got a similar impression of Highlander, that it was primarily a slash fandom. Al least, most of the activity I saw for it back in my pre-lj fannish days was slash.
I also just don't understand the mentally of bring your issues into someone's journal like that. You want to think that making to male friends gay degrades them somehow then keep it in your own damn journal, it has no business in a 'review'. I HATE people using 'con-crit' as an excuse for flames because when you call them on that shit, then your the one who can't take con-crit.
Word. I'm pretty sure I've broadcast most of my comics-related issues all over this section of fandom by now, but I like to think I've at least confined my worst ranting to my own journal.
And I'd never in a million years expound on my dislike for Tony/Pepper or Steve/Bucky or some other ship I don't like when commenting on something posted to a Tony/Peppr comm, or in the comments on a Steve/Bucky fic. I mean, there's me mentioning that I hate Ultimates pretty much every time I talk about it, and then there's commenting on someone's Ultimates-based fic just to say how much I hate Ultimates. People tag it Ultimates, and I carefully avoid reading it, and everyone is happy (well, I'd be happier if Ultimates didn't exist, but I'd also be happier if Twilight and The Man in the Iron Mask didn't exist - I'm one of the Dumas fans who insists that canon for the d'Artagnan romances stops after The Three Musketeers).
