I have this problem when I write about platonic hetero relationships. Everyone who reads it automatically goes "so, when are they getting together?" I get really angry about that, because sometimes friends are just friends even if they happen to be of the opposite sex. And sometimes "just friends" of the same sex can be otherwise.
I personally read slash because I see two guys (or sometimes girls) and think "hmm, they've got some chemistry. I wonder if anyone's explored that? Oh hai, interwebz!"
I could say more, but I'm ill and I can't string two words together at the moment.
