KoIS didn't end up being quite as long as we thought it might be (given that Readjustment was supposed to be about sixty pages and ended up clocking in at nearly a hundred, we expected the next fic to run long as well), so when we planned it out, we were imagining the final scene happening around page 120 or something, rather than page 80-something. We thought about whether or not we wanted to actually show Steve and Tony going to bed together, or include a flash-forward of them actually consumating their relationsip, but that would a) be hard to write (can't write sex well) and b) things just felt resolved at that point, once they'd finally talked.
Honestly, the effort we put into fandom is as much for us as it is for anything else--comics aren't very happy right now, and fandom is our happy place for Tony, Steve, et al.
