Doom is such a fun villain to use, because he's so damned over the top, it's really not hard to have him willing to do just about anything.
And yay, you got the Buffy reference! We were hoping that wouldn't seem too random or out of place.
And Steve needs to be alive lots. The comics will get around to that at some point, but in the meantime, we're determined to fill in.
