She was way dead and buried. Matt not only touched the tombstone, he dug her up and held her dead body because he thought maybe she wasn't dead. (He was grieving at the time, as Foggy sensibly said, and kept catching her scent in the air, so had to check if she was dead.)
The Hand went to the graveyard and dug up her body and took her to a church where they conducted their exciting rituals. They didn't actually get to finish and resurrect her, though - Matt and Stone (friend of Stick) interrupted them. Matt tried to resurrect her himself, but succeeded only in "purifying" her soul with love. He left, and Stone used his own life essence to bring her back. Matt didn't know this at the time, and thought Stone had died in the battle.
