While scouring lj for Snake/Otacon fic (and who on earth decided it would be a good idea to call that pairing snoticon, anyway?), I found

Pay particular attention to the section headers, for they are glorious in their sheer pretension (The emasculation of the Apollonian?" You realize you're discussing video game yaoi, right?).

Also, the comm mods tagged it with "i hate my penis," "i hate your lack of penises," "married to otacon on the astral plane."

Yeah - and, apparently, he is named for just otaku conventions in the generic, without the namers having any knowledge of the Baltimore Otakon, which was already the best-known in the country at the time the game came out.

Which is, what, Japanese writers screwing up Americans screwing up Japanese culture? The blatant fanboy thing is actually a fun meta touch, but, *headdesk*.
