I discovered Panexa (tm) via wikipedia (strange, the things one ends up looking up when researching for fic one probably won't write), and thought of you. Or rather, of your dermatologist.

Pregnant women, or women who plan to become pregnant, should avoid taking PANEXA or handling broken tablets. Or intact tablets. Women considering some day becoming pregnant, who have ever been pregnant, who have had a pregnant friend or pet, or who have seen other pregnant women, naked or otherwise, should also follow these precautions:Do not handle PANEXA tablets, containers, or related literature. If a PANEXA product nears your field of vision, avert your eyes. Try not to say the word "PANEXA." If you do happen to pronounce the syllables, spit thrice and soak your hands in iodine. If you hear the words spoken, live or via recorded medium, cover your ears and immediately see a specialist to try and staunch the bleeding. Try not to think too hard about PANEXA. In fact, don't ever even think about it at all. Pretend you never heard of PANEXA, and never will. Drop this magazine immediately, and get the hell out of here as fast as you fucking can. Go on, get out of here. You'll thank me.

If you should be aware of a pregnant woman who has handled PANEXA, attempt to warn the peoples of earth of the mind-numbing horror that is about to unfold. Also, drink plenty of liquids.

More information about Panexa here

Also, Jesus fuck, and I thought X-Men was complicated and full of stupid retcons. Clearly, Marvel grovels before the alter of incoherence that is DC canon.

Infinite Prohibition and/or Prohibition Crisis is henceforth officially going to be based on Toonverse, the first two Batman movies (i.e. The good ones), random bits of smallville canon, and other people's Teen Titans fic. Because even the wikipedia entry on Superman-through-the-ages makes my brain to bleed.

ok this has nothing to do with panexa and im sorry for the short notice, I will be in DC this weekend and it would be great if you could get down here as well because there are a bunch of activities that you can attend with me, again sorry for the short notice but call me! (516) 849-0138, I need to see my Lizzy!

I work Saturday and have a bunch of appointments at Maryland on Monday. What are you going to be doing Sunday?

[identity profile] blukitten.livejournal.com 2006-07-08 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
I'll be in DC all of sunday but I'm leaving around 4:30 would you be able to come to the city a bit early, maybe we can brunch and do a museum :) call me to finalize plans, I want to see you

[identity profile] elspethdixon.livejournal.com 2006-07-08 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Will call tonight (Saturday night). I can totally make it to DC by noon; it's only a two hour drive. Parking is a bitch, so it would probably be best if I took the metro and met you at the Smithsonian metro station.

Again, will call tonight to set details. Where are you staying?

[identity profile] seanchai.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, that sounds about right. After a month wait, multiple blood tests, and signing a waiver to say that I won't get pregnant for at least a year after I stop taking the pills, I can finally fill out my perscription. But I have to do it in the next seven days, or wait another month.

DC canon can have a rather Lovecraftian effect on people- look at it too hard or too long, and you'll go insane. Plus, toon-verse is totally the best anyway.

Also, fic! (http://home.teleport.com/~punkm/interstitial.html)

Yay fic!

I really have only one question, and that question is: Earth Two and its fellow Alternate Earths. What the fuck? (It's like Wishverse, only stupid! And obviously it's what the Negaverse from Darkwing Duck is based on, but Darkwing Duck did it better). DC's decades of canon are complicated enough without making up various alternate dimensions filled with evil clones just to make things more confusing.

Also, the creation of the comics code and the rise of campy and stupid plot gimicks seem to go hand in hand.

[identity profile] seanchai.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah... I kind ignore the whole 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' as being so deeply stupid it makes my head hurt. If there were ever a universe that didn't need evil clones, it was DC. After all- Batman's his own evil clone. All you have to do is add Frank Miller!

The comics code is responsible for much of the campy stupidity in comics. Thank God for people like Warren Ellis, who make it their personal mission to break it, eh?

*dies* At this point, I think most of the DC characters who aren't dead are their own evil clones. Or their evil clones have punched the time-stream. Whichever.

[identity profile] seanchai.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
A little of both, sadly. However, I like to use the fact that Emo-Boy Prime punching the time stream is such an incredibly stupid plot device as an excuse to ignore, well... pretty much all comics-canon from the past two years.

He's going to be working on a project with Larocca, who's finally leaving the X-Men team after about five glorious years of pretty, shirtless Gambit. (I mourn, but also anticipate)

I don't know what their title will be like, but you can bet it will be pretty.

As for Gambit... Sinister's come back to screw with him again.

[identity profile] seanchai.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll miss Larocca on X-Men, but hopefully whatever he's doing with Warren Ellis will make up for it.

Of course Sinister's come back to screw with Gambit more. It's one of his primary functions as an X-villian.

[identity profile] elspethdixon.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
It's one of his primary functions as an X-villian.

The other being to obsess over Scott, Jean, and Cable. Jean being once more temporarily dead, Cable being off somewhere married to Deadpool, and Scott being surrounded by other X-Men, Sinsiter's left with nothing to do but swoop down on Remy while he's vulnerable.

He'll probably want to experiment on him, to see what being Horseman-ed has done to him.

Naturally! It is, after all, fun for all.

No, wait, I actually have two questions, the second being, what would be a good name for the Ultra-Humanite? He doesn't seem to have had one in canon, and he needs to go by something or other while working for LexCorp (before being fired because his projects aren't profitable).

I've also realised that if Nightwing has an early-thirties motorcycle, he probably has old-school riding/racing goggles, too. The kind that look like WWI pilot goggles. The adorkable, it burns. (Oh, if only I could draw fanart. The main appeal of this AU is the visual images).

[identity profile] seanchai.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
No one actually knows the Ultra-Humanite's real name, including the Ultra-Humanite. He apparently got his vast intellect from certain unnamed experiments. There's a pretty good biography of him here (http://my.execpc.com/~icicle/GAULTRAHUM.html)

Also, yay for old-school goggles! They'd be so very fitting, and utterly adorkable.

"And so, following my instructions, they kidnapped Dolores Winters yesterday and placed my mighty brain in her young, vital body."

DC. Where the writers smoke crack so that you don't have to.

[identity profile] seanchai.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed.
