Is it wrong that my strongest feelings about this part were sadness and frustration that Steve lost his gloves and boots? Also, I just read your responses to someone else's comment on this bit and I totally missed the symbolism when I read it, although it's obvious now that I know. But I'm amused that I had an appropriate emotional reaction anyway.
