I'm personally of the opinion that all roads are evil, but northeaster roads do suck a lot. I wasn't even aware that tolls weren't the standard until I took my road trip to Georgia and realized there were no tolls after Maryland.

The Parkway is slightly less evil, but if you were stuck on the Turnpike, I feel for you.
