Partly--a lot of the current frustration seems to go along not so much with the events themselves, but with the canon changes that went along with them--basically, the Batverse as currently presented post-INFINITE CRISIS is *not* the Batverse people in that area of fandom fell in love with.

Though the disaffection goes back at least as far as WAR GAMES--I mean, there's an entire subfandom devoted, in large part, to protesting the death of Stephanie Brown and the way it was handled (cf. girl-wonder.org--it's not the whole point of the site, by all means, but it was definitely the catalyst).
