I would talk to the director about that. You should never have to pay for a syllabus. And besides, you're in library school; hasn't this professor heard of putting things like that up online? You should let him know about this new fancy internet thing we have. Some libraries even have their catalogs on computer! OMG it's like the year 2000 or something!

Oh, and look for the textbook on Amazon.com. You may be able to get a cheap used copy. I sold a lot of my lib sci books on there.
